Dreads

 I met this young man in a restaurant in SC.  I was intrigued by his conversation and treatment of his partner.  He was excited to do the photo, which was taken right there in the restaurant. I really loved the dreads and enjoyed drawing them. Sometimes I don’t have an understanding of why I choose a model, but as the work starts it becomes clear why a subject draws you in. It can be an emotion, or a connection on some level you don’t have to understand. Just do the work.
